REV Major 2019 #DoItAgain This Weekend at Solaire
REV Major 2019 returns in its third year bigger and better. The premier fighting game event in the country will host hundreds of professional fighters from around the world. Fittingly, The Tent at Solaire Resort & Casino will house the fighters during the two-day tournament. The world’s best players in the FGC are revving up for this year’s most electrifying event in the Philippines. Are you up for the challenge?
Philippines’ Fighting Game Festival
This year’s REV Major will feature nineteen titles in total. Its main game, Tekken 7, is a certified Master Tournament. Therefore, the champion of REV Major’s Tekken 7 Tournament will earn 300 Ranking Points, which is enough to catapult anyone to the world’s Top 50 leaderboard. Eleven other titles comprise REV Major 2019’s major tournaments. These games are:
- Tekken 7
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Street Fighter V
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2
- Dragonball FighterZ
- Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
- Blazblue Cross Tag Battle
- Under Night IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[st]
- The King of Fighters XIV
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Samurai Showdown
- Soulcalibur VI
Seven additional titles will be present in the REV Major, but only as Minor Tournaments. These will be organized by partner community groups NTR Gaming PH, EHADA and the Philippine MVC Community. One title will be organized by their very own developers, Ranida Games. These games are:
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
- BlazBlue: Centralfiction 2
- Million Arthur Arcana Blood
- Melty Blood Actress Again
- Vampire Savior
- Bayani – Fighting Game
With hundreds of participants and even more spectators for this event, organizers PlayBook Esports and Gariath Concepts felt that it was necessary to provide a bigger venue for the fighting game community. Thus, they picked the Tent at Solaire, which is exponentially bigger than last year’s Power Mac Center at Circuit Makati.
Get Ready For The Next Challenge
The REV Major 2019 boasts about 800 registrants for all of its games, which includes global champions. For Tekken 7, we expect to see the likes of the “Returned King” Qudans, the “God” Knee, and the REV Major 2018 Champion LowHigh. Other challengers include SAINT, Nobi, and JDCR, among others. Tekken 7 fans will also get to see Katsuhiro Harada himself, the producer of the Tekken series.
Meanwhile, the Dragon Ball FighterZ Tournament is part of the World Tour as a Tenkaichi tournament. The top ki warrior will earn 200 ranking points, just enough to get you scratching at the world’s Top 10. It’s no wonder then that top DBFZ fighters like Fenritti, Matoi, and Tako will take part of the tournament.
Finally, for Street Fighter fans, legendary player Daigo Umehara will also be attending the event as a special guest.
#DoItAgain at the REV Major
The REV Major is one of the younger fighting game tournaments in the global fighting game community. The country’s best fighters, including Doujin, Jules, AK, Nexplay’s very own Rey, Haji and Jaynine will also be competing in the Tekken 7 tournament. They will be taking a short break from their The Nationals group stages to face some international matchups. Rey and Jaynine currently stand at 7-8 in their groups. Rey himself is in a mad streak, going ballistic in Day 3 of the conference, which will surely come in handy for the REV Major. Should he carry over his momentum, it’d be no wonder if he propels himself in the tournament’s Top 10, if not claim the gold.
With the REV Major not having a Filipino champion for Tekken 7 yet, we hope that this year would crown the first. Ready to witness them in action? Admission for the spectating public is free, and you could catch the streams in the following channels:
