Top 10 New Mobile Games for 2020 We’re All Waiting For
New year, new games. We still got a hangover from the great games we’ve had in 2019, but we’re ready for more. Here are the top 10 new mobile games for 2020 that we’re all dying to play right now.
10. PayDay: Crime War
The creators of PayDay successfully ported it to the Nintendo Switch, making it the first portable PayDay game. However, PayDay: Crime Wars aims to give mobile players a chance to play the hit multiplayer game on their mobile devices. And unlike the original games which focused on co-op gameplay, this one lets you play as the cops. Making use of old maps and familiar masks, veteran fans of PayDay will feel at home with this mobile-only game.
Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad
Building up on the recent success of Rainbow Six: Siege, Ubisoft will bring some of its operatives to the mobile world. As an added bonus, Splinter Cell operative Sam Fisher also joins the game. Announced at E3, a lot of us can’t wait to get our hands on the game. Thankfully, pre-registration is already open at elitesquadgame.com. Pre-registering now will earn you the operator Walker upon release, so there’s good reason to click the link over there.
Pokemon Sleep aims to do what Pokemon Go did for walking. The exact details on how it’ll do this are currently unknown, but the announcement trailer is enough to excite most of us Pokemon fans. Do you still remember when Pokemon Go was released and we suddenly saw so many people playing the game on the streets? Get ready for the same kind of traction for Pokemon Sleep.
Plants vs. Zombies 3
Most of the development of Plants vs. Zombies 3 has been lowkey, but it’s not missed by our radar. It’s currently on its Alpha testing, which could suggest a very late release in 2020. We’re excited to let our green thumbs experience the biggest tower defense game of the late 2000s. Popcap promises that most of the fun features we had from Plants vs. Zombies 2 will remain, so we’re curious to see what the third game will bring to the table.
Path of Exile: Mobile
Path of Exile: Mobile is coming to dethrone Diablo Immortal even before either of them is released. Many fans dub the game as the “Diablo killer” simply because its mechanics are deeper and, to some, much more enjoyable than Diablo. The game’s not a direct port, which means Path of Exile: Mobile is built from the ground up for mobile.
Diablo Immortal’s bad rep comes from the way it was revealed, not from the fact that it’s a mobile game and from the fact that it might be a bad game. Actually, Diablo Immortal might even end up being a fun game after all. With the lukewarm reception the game received upon its reveal, Blizzard has been quiet about it so far. Still, the game looks promising, which makes it deserving for a spot in our top 10 new mobile games for 2020. We’ll see which one between this and Path of Exile: Mobile will prove to be the better product.
There was a time when Supercell was synonymous with mobile gaming. Back in the day, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale were the biggest mobile games to storm the market. In 2020, Supercell will be looking to retake that spot away from Call of Duty: Mobile, which is incidentally our top 1 game for 2019. Will Rush Wars be enough to take the crown back to Supercell? It looks like the game has what it takes based on the raving reviews beta testers have for the game.
One might argue that part of the charm of Minecraft is that you also build your own story. However, some people need a more guided narrative to play a game. Previously, we’ve had Minecraft Story Mode for the narrative-driven players. But with the upcoming Minecraft Dungeons, we’ll actually have a narrative-driven action game set in the Minecraft world. We’re excited about how this game will turn out.
Our 2019 list had Dota Underlords in it, but Valve’s dominance in the auto-battler genre might disappear when Teamfight Tactics gets released on mobile devices in 2020. Riot Games is also investing a lot of resources for their own auto-battler, so this matchup would be an interesting story to follow. Just like Dota Underlords, the mobile version will be able to cross-play with the PC players. It’s equipped to fight Dota Underlords head-on, so it’s only a matter of time before we find out who reigns supreme.
No other game deserves to be on the top of this list other than Wild Rift. This mobile adaptation of League of Legends is going to be a big game-changer for the mobile environment. It could potentially kill off the current MOBAs popular on the platform. It’s definitely a game that everyone should watch out for. Wild Rift will redefine what a MOBA could be like on mobile games, and we’re all excited to see how it’ll perform when it releases this year.
That’s our list of the top 10 new mobile games for 2020. If you can’t wait to play any of them, try your hand on the best mobile games of 2019 to help keep you busy until these games get released.
